Insurance documents hold some of the most sensitive information you own. Here is exactly how we protect it, in plain English, with nothing buried.

What we collect

Two things. Your account details (the email you sign up with), and the insurance policy documents you choose to upload so the tool can analyze them. That's it. We don't buy data about you from anyone, and we don't track you around the web.

What we do with your documents

Exactly one thing: analyze the policy you uploaded so we can answer your questions about it. Your documents are never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with any insurance carrier, broker, or marketer. There is no second purpose hiding in the fine print.

We do not train AI on your policies

This matters, so we'll be plain about it. MyPolicyShield uses Anthropic's Claude to read your policy and answer your questions. Your documents are not used to train any AI model - not by us, and not by Anthropic, whose business terms state that data sent through its API is not used to train its models. Your policy is read to help you, then it stays yours.

We redact your most sensitive data before AI ever sees it

Before any policy text is sent for analysis, our system automatically removes Social Security numbers and credit-card numbers and replaces them with a redaction marker. The catastrophic identity-theft data simply never reaches the AI. (Your policy number, coverage details, and dates do reach it, because that's the information you came here to understand.)

How your data is stored

Your documents are encrypted at rest using AES-256, and all data moving between you and us travels over an encrypted TLS connection. Your policies are tied to your account and are not browsable by other users.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your documents only as long as you want them. They stay in your account until you delete them - there is no forced expiration, and no quiet 'we keep it forever' clause. You can permanently delete any single policy, or your entire account, at any time. When you delete, it is removed from our active systems. You are always in control of your own documents.

Who we share with

No one, for marketing - ever. The only third party that touches your policy text is our AI provider (Anthropic), and only for the moment it takes to generate your answer. We may disclose information if legally required to (a court order, for example), but we are not in the business of handing your data to anyone.
